Rochester Section Lab Equipment Sharing
Have you ever needed a piece of lab equipment or instrumentation for an experiment but don’t have the resources? Maybe you have thought about measurements that could be useful for your work only to dismiss the idea because you do not have access to the necessary equipment, or it doesn’t make sense to purchase something for only a few uses.
Why Share Equipment?
Sharing resources isn’t just about saving money; it’s about building a more connected and collaborative scientific community. By pooling our collective resources, we can:
Expand research capabilities: Gain access to specialized instruments without significant capital investment. This could enable new types of experiments or analyses that were previously out of reach.
Strengthening our network: Fostering a culture of collaboration, which can lead to new partnerships, ideas, and scientific breakthroughs.
Save time and money: Why buy a new instrument for a single project when you can borrow one from a fellow section member for a short period to run an experiment. We are asking each of you to contribute to a shared, voluntary database of lab equipment. We will compile a comprehensive list of available instruments and publish it on our ROC ACS website. Members can then use this resource to find and connect with others who have the equipment they need. Rochester ACS website will act as the connector, facilitating a direct conversation between you and a Rochester Section member who has the equipment.
From there, you can work out the logistics directly with them. Think of it as a community-driven library of scientific tools.
